about

30 years ago on January 21st 1987, Gerrard and Simian Culpa signed a deal with Joe Peeker’s label Pirate Bear Records to record their first album with the option of a five album deal dependent on the success of the first. Shortly after recording was completed, Joe disappeared mysteriously. The Twins were left with no alternative but to shelve the album indefinitely. That album was “The Ecstasy Of Communication” and had been due for release on 27th February 1987. Weeks later, the twins themselves disappeared. They were located eight weeks later in the vicinity of the Avebury Stone Circle in an obvious state of distress and during police interrogation claimed to have, quote: “...saved the world from Cthultic entities from beyond the Fourth eon,” but that’s another story.

To this day Simian claims to have been abducted and re-engineered by extraterrestrials from beyond the Zeta Reticuli system on Tuesday 24th February 1981. He claims to have received special musical abilities that have made him a “psychotronic music transmitter” as well as a Musical Interface Logistic Computer (or MILC), which to some bore an uncanny resemblance to a Commodore 64. This then was the beginning of a new phase in electronic music with the twins at the very forefront. Many years later Gerrard went on to explain: “We think Apple computers stole our master tapes and used them to create samples which are now used as loops and are in use in the public domain. Whenever I walk past an Apple store in the high street I always flick the V’s at the people inside. Bastards.”

Finally, the twins can restore their reputation and prove to the world that in 1987 the electronic music scene should have been dancing to a very different beat. Ladies and gentlemen, immerse yourselves in…
